Translation of article about self-immolation in Nakchivan - Naxçıvanda özünü yandırmaya aid məqalənin tərcüməsi

This article was published yesterday at Azadliq.az. I have not seen any mention of this incident in the English-language media covering Azerbaijan. If this is verified, it would be the second self-immolation in Azerbaijan in recent months protesting the oppressive behavior of government authorities.

Naxçıvan MR Şərur rayonunun Kosacan kənd sakini Sahib Məmiyev ötən gün özünü yandırıb. Bununla o, hakimiyyətin taxıl yığmaq üçün ona texnika verməkdən imtina etməsinə etirazını bildirib.

A resident of Kosajan village in the Sherur region of Nakchivan, Sahib Memiyev, set himself on fire yesterday. With this he expressed his opposition the authorities’ refusal to give him equipment for harvesting wheat.

Hazırda yerli hakimiyyət bütün texnikanı rayon rəhbərliyi və ona yaxın adamların sahələrində taxılın yığılmasına yönəldib. Sadə kəndlilər isə gözləməlidir və bu səbəbdən bəzən gec yığımla əlaqədar məhsulun bir hissəsini itirirlər.

Currently the local authorities direct all equipment to harvest grain in the fields of the region’s leaders and people close to them. Ordinary villagers however must wait and because of this they sometimes lose a part of the yield because it is harvested late.

Memiyev’s condition is critical. He has been taken to the Sherur regional hospital.
